Across the Snoqualmie Valley—from North Bend to Duvall, Fall City to Carnation—we are witnessing something both inspiring and deeply concerning.
More teens are walking through our doors than ever before.
At The Trail Youth, we are serving 40% more youth this year compared to last. Behind that number are real families navigating rising costs—groceries, gas, housing—and teens who are feeling the added weight of that stress in their daily lives. At the same time, many community resources are tightening, making it even harder for youth to find the support they need.
And so, they come to us.
They come looking for something simple, but powerful: a place where they feel safe, seen, and supported; a place to belong and feel a part of community.
Every day, we welcome teens into a space where they can take a breath, grab a craft beverage, have something to eat, and just be themselves. We offer free snacks and drinks, job training, access to essentials like hygiene kits, socks, hats, and gloves, and a consistent, caring environment where no one is turned away.
But what happens here goes far beyond basic needs.
Through our Barista Training Program, teens gain confidence, purpose, and real-world job skills. Over the course of six months, we watch them grow—and many move on to secure paid employment. It’s always a celebration, not just of a job, but of who they’ve become along the way.
We also see the power of connection in the smallest moments—a teen sitting down at our donated upright piano, others gathering around, conversations starting, confidence building.
From this, we’ve created opportunities like Teen Open Mic Nights, where youth can express themselves, be heard, and build meaningful community.
And when deeper support is needed, we are there for that too.
Through partnerships with Snoqualmie Valley Health, the Snoqualmie Valley School District, CenterPoint Counseling, and the Snoqualmie Tribe, we provide no-fee mental health services, including counseling, art therapy, suicide prevention programs, recovery groups, and group talk sessions.
Our Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Advocate Specialists walk alongside youth navigating incredibly difficult situations, helping them access resources and find stability. These services are always free—because we believe every young person deserves support, regardless of financial circumstances.
As our reach grows, so do our financial challenges these services enable.
The cost of keeping our doors open—rent, utilities, food, supplies, and payroll, so that our own staff can earn living wages—continues to rise. Grants help, but they are not enough to keep pace with the increasing demand and the real, everyday needs of the youth we serve.
We are committed to being here for every teen who comes to us. But we cannot do it alone.
We are raising funds to continue providing a safe, welcoming space, to expand our programs, to offer essential items, meals and job training, and to ensure that critical mental health and advocacy services remain available to all youth in our community.
When you give to The Trail Youth, you are doing more than making a donation:
- You are making sure a teen has somewhere to go and not be alone after school.
- You are helping them feel seen, valued, and supported.
- You are giving them the opportunity to build confidence, develop skills, and create a better future.
At a time when families are stretched thin and support systems are under pressure, we have an opportunity—as a community—to show up for our youth in a meaningful way.
To remind them: you matter, you belong, you are not alone, and your future matters.
Thank you for being part of this work, and for helping us continue to be a here for teens across the Snoqualmie Valley.
