Hi everyone, I run the account @dcuhypeguy on X, where I spend most of my time talking about DC movies, shows, comics, and games.
This year, I want to take that fandom and turn it into something that actually helps people in the real world.
I am raising $3,000 to buy DC-themed toys and gifts for kids living in a local children’s home/group home. These are kids who, for a lot of different reasons, cannot live with their families or may not even have one. Many of them have had a rough year. I want them to wake up on Christmas morning and feel like the Justice League showed up just for them.
What the funds will go toward
My goal is to put together the ultimate DC Christmas haul, including things like:
DC action figures and playsets
Graphic novels and age-appropriate comics
Superhero costumes and capes
DC LEGO sets, arts and crafts, and board games
Warm hoodies, T-shirts, blankets, and PJs with DC characters
If the budget allows, I would also love to include a new PlayStation with a couple of games the kids can share in a common room. For a lot of them, things like that are a rare luxury, and it would give them something fun and social to do together.
Why I am doing this
I have always loved superheroes, not just because they are cool, but because they stand for something: hope, second chances, and the idea that anyone can rise above a hard past.
These kids may not have Bruce Wayne’s money or Clark Kent’s powers, but they deserve to feel seen and celebrated. Even something as simple as a new toy, a game night, or a comic that becomes “their” favorite character can make a huge difference in how they feel about the holidays.
I am not naming the specific children’s home publicly to protect the kids’ privacy and my own, but the gifts will be going to a real, licensed children’s home in my community that serves children who cannot safely live at home or do not have one.
How I will use the money
If we reach the $3,000 goal, the plan is:
Buy DC-themed toys, clothes, and books for a range of ages
Purchase a game console (if budget allows) and shared games
Include wrapping paper, gift bags, and some decorations so staff can help make Christmas morning special
Deliver everything directly to the children’s home before Christmas
If we go over the goal, any extra money will go to more gifts, gift cards for older teens, or additional items the staff say the kids need.
Transparency
I will:
Post updates and photos of the shopping haul (no kids’ faces or identifying details)
Share receipts or summaries of what was purchased
Post a final update after the gifts are delivered
You will be able to see exactly how your donation helped.
How you can help
Donate any amount. Even $5 or $10 adds up fast.
Share this GoFundMe with friends, group chats, or fellow DC/superhero fans.
If you follow me on X as @dcuhypeguy, feel free to tag me when you share so we can get more people involved.
Thank you for helping turn a simple idea from a DC fan account into something that can give real kids a brighter Christmas.
