Asalaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
They say it takes a village to raise a child—and in today’s technological age, that village can be from all over the world.
This fundraiser is for Hajar (name changed for anonymity), a single mom facing a difficult situation who needs our help—her virtual village—to be able to stand on her feet.
Overwhelmed with mounting debt, relentless bills, and the daily struggle of feeding her daughter while trying to keep a roof over their heads, Hajar is stretched thin while trying to also focus on finishing school and finding work. Despite her efforts, the chance of being homeless once again is looming.
For the last few years, Hajar has been trying her best to get her life back together for herself and her now 6-year-old daughter. Her ex-husband abandoned them in the midst of the COVID pandemic and later cut them off financially. With no family to reliably fall back on, Hajar has had no choice but to face life alone—fueled by the dream of providing stability and safety for her daughter.
That’s where we—Hajar’s virtual village—come in. As an Ummah, we are called to help one another: if one part of us hurts, all of us are in pain.
Hajar isn’t just a single mom—she is a visionary: a woman with a dream, with a goal to write and create positive change in the Muslim Ummah. She’s been gifted with the power of words and has an incredible talent to be a voice for many who feel silenced or unseen. She’s also a dear and beloved friend, a kind and generous soul, and an incredible human being who goes out of her way to help others, even with what little she has.
Time and time again, Hajar has always been the first to set up fundraising pages for those in need—but when it came to creating a fundraiser for herself, she would often refuse, ashamed of asking others for help. As her friends, we couldn't let her and her daughter struggle in silence, and that’s why we’ve set up this page for her.
Now it’s our turn to show up for Hajar.
Whether it’s $5 or $50, your support could mean the difference between shelter and homelessness, between fear and hope. Let’s come together as an Ummah. Let’s uplift her the way she’s lifted others.
We are Hajar’s virtual village, and we’re here to help.
Jazakum Allahu Khairan, and May Allah allow this to weigh heavily on your scale of good deeds, Ameen.
Note: All funds will be received by the organizer Sameera Hijazi and transferred to the recipient
