Hi! Our names are Joshua and Ashley Cantrell. We have been married 5 years this year and from the very beginning it has been our hearts to have a child. Unfortunately we have gone through 2 miscarriages, PCOS diagnosis, uterus surgery, and a multitude of medications that have taken
its toll on Ashley’s body and the mental health of both of us. From the beginning we said that we wanted to eventually adopt but didn’t know that this would be the road to be taken for our first child. We have made the decision to adopt a baby and have already announced this to our family and friends. We have contacted an adoption lawyer and have consulted with friends and coworkers who have had an adoption story of their own. We have decided to move forward with the adoption lawyer who covers everything from matching to a birth mom to the end of the process where the court announces that the child is legally ours. With this comes a great financial cost. The matching process, medical care for the birth mom, legal fees, and home study cost are high and we have told that the above number is the one that we should prepare for. We not only are doing this for the purpose of
having a child but because we believe that it is a theme that we see constantly throughout the Bible, where we are commanded to take care of the widows and the orphans and that ultimately it is a picture of the gospel and what Christ has done for us. We want to give a child a loving and healthy home that it might not have had any other way. Will you join with us and be a part of this incredible story? Any gift no matter how small makes a difference. Above all pray for us that this process would be smooth and that God would supply all of our needs.
”For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”“
Romans 8:15
”Father to the fatherless, defender of widows— this is God, whose dwelling is holy. God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy...“
Psalms 68:5-6
