Hi, my name is Naomi and I am fundraising to provide relief and support to my parents, extended family and friends who live in Cataboo/Slipe District - 6 miles from Black River, St Elizabeth, Jamaica. On Tuesday 28th October, their lives changed for the worst as Hurricane Melissa battered the island, leaving a trail of devastation and destruction - homes have either been damaged or completely destroyed.

The town of Black River holds a special place in my heart - when vacationing in Jamaica, as a child and adult, I always looked forward to going to there to buy patties, hominy porridge, souvenirs, the latest mixtapes/CDs and enjoy the hustle and bustle of the town; it breaks my heart to see that it has been reduced to nothing but a crumbling wreck.

My goal is to use any money raised from gofundme to firstly, provide food, clothing, hygiene products for my family and the community and lastly, to help them repair their homes. The money will be sent directly to my father, as opposed to a charity; therefore, it will be in safe hands and distributed fairly - prioritising those with the greatest of needs.

As they say dung ah yard, "every mickle mek ah muckle", so no matter how small the donation is, when combined it all adds up!
