Global Alliance's library in Kibosho serves ten schools and the tuk tuk would enable us to do more outreach to those schools. Bavo Tengio, our librarian, would be able to visit the schools, deliver books and do activities with students. It would also advertise the library while on its routes.
Community libraries in Western Kenya and in the Kibera Slum, Nairobi, Kenya have already been built, as well as in Kibosho on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro. These libraries are providing thousands of children with educational resources to which they would otherwise not have access. With a mobile library, we would be able to expand our outreach even further.
Global Alliance for Africa is a Chicago-based not-for-profit that partners with local not-for-profit agencies, faith-based organizations, and community groups in Sub-Saharan Africa.
We design and develop unique and innovative economic strengthening programs for households and communities who take care of and support children and youth who have been orphaned or made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS. In addition to our Community Library Program, we also have a Therapeutic Arts Program to address the biopsychosocial needs of the children.
