This coming March, BC Law will be sending students to volunteer with nonprofit immigration organizations across the US. These organizations work to provide free legal services to people facing immigration challenges, including asylum seekers, refugees, and victims of domestic violence. The trip has been organized annually since 1988 and is overseen by the head of BC's Immigration Law Department.
This spring, about twenty students will donate their spring breaks to support organizations in locations such as, Miami, Florida; Denver, Colorado; Harlingen, Texas; Los Angeles, CA, and New York City. One of the trip's most important aspects is that it gives students the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field of immigration law while providing necessary services to individuals greatly in need of legal assistance. The experiences of past participants have included assisting asylum seekers from countries such as Cameroon, Eritrea, Rwanda, and El Salvador to avoid being deported to their home countries where they face persecution.
These trips are student organized and student funded. Your donations will be used for student travel expenses including flights, hotel accommodations, and transportation in the cities. We appreciate donations of any amount to help us use our Spring Break week to work towards making a difference for these organizations and the people they are working so hard to help.
