My name is Taalib (Walter Triplett Jr.), and I am writing to ask for your support as I work to rebuild my life after release from prison. On a warm April night 16 years ago, my life as I knew it ended when two men cornered and attacked my twin sister. I did as any man would have done, the only thing I could of done, and I protected my family. I threw just two punches in her defense and for that, I was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
That night I lost my freedom, my family and the opportunity to pursue the American dream of growing a business and owning a home. The truth is, this situation has left me unbroken, but broke - starting at ground zero with nothing.
Starting over comes with immense challenges, especially when it comes to housing, clothing, employment, transportation - not to mention mending broken relationships while navigating my own trauma.
I am asking for your help with securing these essentials so that I can begin this journey with dignity and stability. My days were dark, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and your generosity can help me in my transition. Any contribution - no matter how small or big - will go a long way in helping me rebuild my life.
I appreciate you taking the time to read this, and for any donation offered. Thank you.
