Please join mein supporting Tamara’s recovery. Tamara is an an amazing lady with a heart of gold. She has always put the needs of others before herself. If you needed a place to stay she would open her doors to you. She always has an ear to listen, no matter the time. I didn't know her until a mutual fiend introduced us. Our friendship has grown over time. She even helped me through a difficult time in my life.
In 2000 Tamara was diagnosed with Stage 3 Invasive Ductal Carinoma. It was an aggressive cancer that spread to her lympnodes. She endured 5 months of chemo and 28 days of radiation. She also encountered several surgerical setbacks. She had her final breast implants placed in 2023. . Her husband could not handle her diagnosis, so she was left to fight the battle alone while supporting her youngest son.
More recently, Tamara had a traditional right hip replacement in November of 2024. Unfortunately, the permanent hip became infected which resulted in her becoming septic on three different occasions between December and January. Her initial doctor said everything was healing fine. However, that was not the case and she remained in severe pain.
It was not until she was seen by a Doctor at Rush that she was diagnosed with a infection in the hip joint. In March of 2025 a temporary an antibiotic hip spacer followed my 6 weeks of IV antibiotic. She was restricted to a wheelchair for the majority of her treatment. Tamara received her permanent hip replacement in June 2025. She started walking last week with support.
During this same period of time, Tamara lost her job and insurance.. She was able to secure an insurance plan for her son and herself. However, the medical bills continue to skyrocket, which wiped out her financial reserve
There is a silver lining in Tamara’s story. She no longer has to fight the battle alone. Outside of her family, Tamara had her fiance walking along side her. Tamara refers to him as her Superman.
