SF Bay Area Coronavirus Support Fund

Donation protected

Hospitals, hospices, and clinics around the US are running out of supplies for frontline healthcare workers who are treating COVID-19 patients. Without proper equipment, healthcare workers are at some of the highest risks for getting coronavirus.

We have secured suppliers, who are ready to ship masks and gloves.

We have contacted hospital, hospice, and clinic staff, who are in dire need of  Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

We need you to help fund our effort.

BACKGROUND
Two of the highest needs right now are masks and gloves.

· Without enough gloves, healthcare workers are more likely to transmit Coronavirus from patient to patient,

· Without enough masks, they are also more likely to contract Coronavirus and infect their patients.

Therefore, we started this campaign to purchase PPE directly from the factories that are producing them and deliver them to our local hospitals, hospice, and clinics.

All donations will go directly into the purchase of masks and gloves for hospitals, hospices, and clinics in the SF Bay Area. We already have doctors and nurses waiting for this equipment.

OUR GOAL
First $10,000 committed will acquire 2,000 N95, KN95 and surgical masks and 10,000 disposable gloves to arrive next Tuesday, 3/31, in the SF Bay Area.

If we hit $25,000, we will acquire at least another 4,000 masks, and 20,000 gloves.

Funds above $25,000 will be used for wave 3. Stay tuned!

OUR COMMITMENT
Once the masks and gloves are delivered, we will put our deliveries on a real time map, so you can see where your donations are going.

HOW WILL THE FUNDS BE USED?
100% of the funds will go towards facilitating the purchase and delivery of masks, gloves, and other protective equipment for healthcare workers in the SF Bay Area and beyond.

HOW WILL THE MASKS AND GLOVES BE DELIVERED?
We are partnering with GetMePPE-sfbay,  the LEAP initiative, and other volunteers to distribute masks to the hospitals, hospice and clinics in need.

HEAR FROM THE FRONT LINES

Hi all, My name is David Grundy and I work in the emergency department at Seton Medical Center in Daly City.

As we do the difficult and high risk work of triaging and treating patients with the novel coronavirus, one of our biggest concerns is having adequate personal protective equipment (PPE). The greatest need at this time is for more high-quality masks that we can wear during patient encounters and especially high-risk procedures such as intubating patients.

Anything that you can donate to help supply us with gloves and N95 masks will be a great help to us.

CURRENT PROGRESS
We have identified qualified suppliers who are ready to take our orders and have contacted hospitals, hospices, and clinics and gotten in touch with their procurement officers to accept delivery of the supplies once they come in. Thank you for your support as we work together to make our communities and healthcare professionals safer.

FAQ

What does success look like?
If we can stop even one person more than necessary from dying from coronavirus, then this will have been worth it. Our goal is to get as many masks, gloves, and other PPE into the hands of health workers as quickly as possible.

How will funds be used?
100% of the funds will go towards acquiring and shipping protective equipment to our hospitals and clinics.

How much are you paying for the masks?
We are getting manufacturer pricing on the mask. As pricing depends on order quantity, shipping rate (in this case, the faster the better to protect our healthcare workers), and competing demand, the number may change. However, we have spent our time comparing prices across multiple manufacturers to get the best possible price per unit while making sure that each manufacturer has the right certification and approval by the FDA or the EMA.

Are donations tax deductible?
Because we have partnered with the LEAP initiative, a 501c3 nonprofit,  and will be able to give tax receipts when our campaign is over.
