Bathroom Project for Caleb Kapsalis!

Hi, we are Michal Wilk and Adam Adamski owners of Maglux Construction & Restoration. Our company is fundraising for an upcoming community project to provide a wheel chair accessible bathroom for a child from LaGrange Highlands, IL.

Late last year Maglux was asked to provide an estimate on finishing a bathroom. After getting to know the family's story, we asked ourselves “how can WE help?” Maglux has been fortunate to build many beautiful spaces for years in our local community. This time, we are taking the opportunity to pay it forward! We are going to build a functional and accessible bathroom to meet Caleb's needs! Hope you can join us on this journey!

Caleb's Story!

Caleb was adopted by Marc (a veteran) in 2008 when Caleb was just three days old. At first, Caleb appeared to be a typically developing child in most ways. However, before he was two, Caleb showed trouble with eye contact and missed some physical and mental developmental benchmarks. Caleb was evaluated and diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) shortly after.

During the early years of his DMD diagnosis, Caleb wasn't able to move around as easily as other kids but had most abilities. Unfortunately, at age 10, Caleb’s condition worsened. Today Caleb is 13 and requires assistance with everything from cutting up his food, getting dressed, helping him sit up, roll over in bed, using the bathroom, and bathing.

Caleb’s family continues to adapt to his needs and mobility challenges. Being always confined to a wheelchair has proven to be a challenge for his dad, Marc. Caleb, at 13, weighs about 140lbs and Marc can no longer lift him into their current tub. The current bathroom is also too small to accommodate a wheelchair. A bathroom that addresses Caleb’s needs and allows for Marc to care for him is a NECESSITY.

As Caleb grows, his complete dependency on his father as the caregiver does not allow time for Marc to complete all of the self-improvement projects. Maglux has partnered with the Post 1941 American Legion, a non-for profit organization, from LaGrange, IL to help Marc renovate a bathroom space designed around Caleb’s needs. We are currently working on the final design and layout!

All proceeds collected will be provided to the American Legion and disbursed by the Legion to pay for materials and labor for Caleb's project. Thanks in advance for your generosity and kindness.
