Batey Housing Project

We are Offbeat Travel and are fundraising for our partner communities in the Dominican Republic. Part of the proceeds of all our travel goes to our projects and we are fundraising in order to expand that impact. Our work is throughout the country but we are specifically fundraising for our projects in the bateyes near the town of Consuelo in the Dominican Republic.

Los bateyes are traditionally communities of sugar cane workers and their families, and are among the most impoverished areas of the country. Many people in these regions lack access to some of the most basic human rights, including access to clean water, adequate nutrition, decent housing, basic education, electricity and other infrastructure.

Since 2013 we have built over 15 homes in Batey Monte Coca and the funds from this would fund the construction of a house.
