Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is an island in the Caribbean and a haven for tourists. St. Vincent and the Grenadines flaunt some of the most gorgeous scenery in the world. White sandy beach’s, clear blue water, warm sea breeze and the La Soufriere Volcano. In saying this on April 9 th 2021, The La Soufriere volcano, a volcano that lay dormant for 42 years violently erupted forcing natives of the island to abruptly flee from their homes. Residents of the island that were deemed to be living in the red zone had to evacuate throughout the night and early morning on boats. Thousands have lost their homes and are left with nothing. The steady flow of ash has reduced air quality, contaminated water and food supplies and many are without electricity.
With frequent and more intense explosions, and the addition of pyroclastic flows (dense destructive mass of very hot ash, lava fragments and gases ejected explosively) now racing down the mountain, The negative impact financially, agriculturally and on mental health to the citizens, intertwined with the lack of resources is why I we are hosting this fundraiser. With your help we can provide direct services to feed and shelter families who have lost everything. By donating we will be able to support seniors, children and other vulnerable persons. The following items are needed in the interim to help save families around the island.
Non-perishable food items and water
Hygiene products (tooth paste, tooth brush, soap, deodorant, razors, shaving crème, sanitary pads, adult and children’s diapers etc)
Clothing: Undergarments for Adults, children and babies
Bedding: Blankets, cots, air mattress
Towels: face, hand and bath towels
Supplies-N95 masks, gloves, sanitizer, wipes, first aid kits.
ALL DONATIONS WILL BE USED TO PURCHASE THESE VARIOUS ITEMS AND DONATED TO PASTOR SAMUEL JOYLESS AT THE CENTRAL WINDWARD DISTRICT SDA CHURCH. WHERE RESIDENTS OF THE ISLAND ARE FINDING REFUGE FOR THE TIME BEING.
