2023 marked the 150th anniversary of the immigration of the Mikulas and Apolena Bartos family to Texas. The family left the security of their ancestral home and made the long voyage to America, settling in the community of Ammannsville in 1873. The family has thrived and expended to all parts of the US and abroad in countries such as Singapore and Australia. Per our discussion during this year's family reunion, we are raising $2500 for the purpose of establishing a memorial plaque on the Immigrants' Wall at the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center in La Grange, TX. The purpose of this fundraiser is to allow the descendants of Mikulas and Apolena to jointly cover the cost of this plaque. Once the target amount has been reached, the fundraiser will be closed. Please Note... it may not be possible to close it at the exact target amount (We may slightly exceed the target before the account can be closed). Therefore, any funds in excess of the target will be donated to the general fund of the Center. Also, the target amount of $2,573 was established to account for the cost of the plaque and the necessary transaction fees.
