The past year has been a year like no other and no corner of the planet has escaped the effects of this pandemic. In our little corner of the planet we have done all we can to keep everyone safe. We have all grown to rely on family and close friends for all our needs. There are some people, those that live alone and the elderly, that did not have the support network that most of us take for granted.
During the 2 lockdowns some of the unsung heroes in Clonmellon have been delivering Sunday dinners free of charge to the eldery and those living alone. These meals have been funded by The Mullingar Lions Club, prepared by David Smyth Catering and delivered by St. Pauls GFC's Eugene Dolan. Eugene Delivered these meals door-to-door every Sunday, including Christmas Day, and they were very much appreciated by those who received them during those difficult times.
In recognition of the great work done by these people myself and fellow Clonmellon man Andy Smith are taking part in the Mullingar Lions Club fund raiser where we will be trying to complete an 800km cycle (the same distance as the Paris-Nice Race) for the month of May. For the duration of the month we will be looking for you to make a donationto our Go Fund Me account.
If anyone out there wants to join us for a cycle then by all means get in touch. The more the merrier. Thank you in advance for your great support.
