Barney's Chair

This is Barney, my nephew. When he was a baby he was diagnosed with a brain tumour. He had surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. After 7 long months in hospital, he was finally discharged home. Now, 5 years after the end of his treatment, he remains tumour free.
The brain tumour and all the necessary treatment has had a big effect on Barney. He is severely disabled (he has a tracheostomy, has a ventillator at night to breathe for him, he is fed through a PEG tube to his stomach, he can't talk, he can't walk and he has multiple seizures every day and night).
Despite all these challenges, Barney is a very happy and kind little boy.
What Barney likes most of all is being outside.
To get Barney outside he needs to be pushed in a buggy. The NHS can only supply one buggy and it has provided a great buggy that he uses for school. But the NHS-supplied buggy can't go "off-road", so Barney is restricted to being pushed along tarmac paths.
Barney lives in the South West and would love to go out on countryside walks. He had been using a Phil&Teds buggy, but Barney is now nearly 7 years old and he is too big for it. His old buggy also doesn't have the safety straps he needs to keep him from injuring himself when he has seizures, so it can't be used anymore because it is not safe.

Barney's physio has recommended a Delta buggy by Delichon. It is an all terrain buggy that would keep Barney safe and secure and enable him to enjoy the natural environment around him.
The chair itself costs £2040. With extras, like a sun hood (£125), a rain cover (£35) and beach wheels (£275).

Having a disabled child is extremely expensive. Barney needs essential building works for his house to make it accessible for him He is entitled the Disabled Facilities Grant, but this will only cover half of the costs. He has just had a new Motability wheelchair accessible which also cost thousands for the initial down payment. The cost of a special wheelchair on top of this is too much.
Barney and all of his family would be extremely grateful for any help you can give towards this new buggy that would make such a huge difference to their lives.
The photo below is of my amazing sister Amy, Barney's mummy.
She was very uncomfortable about doing a page like this and asking people for money.
I know how hard it has been for her since Barney was first diagnosed with cancer. For her to manage with the usual day-to-day and to be able to just got for a walk outside is now becoming an almost impossible task. She is an amazingly strong and determined woman, but they really do need some help with raising money for this chair, which would have such a huge positive impact on their lives and for their other children. And so I'm asking on her behalf. Any amount you could give would be so gratefully received! And if you can't give anything, don't worry :)

Thank you for reading.
