Barlow's Falmouth Road Race Fundraiser 2023

On August 20th I will be running the 51st Falmouth Road Race, and have the privilege of putting my funding efforts toward the Jack Langerman Community Foundation. The foundation honors my good friend Jack Langerman, who tragically passed away in January 2021, and the various communities that he was a part of throughout his life. If you didn’t know Jack personally, there’s a good chance you knew someone that was connected to him in one way or another as his network stretched far and wide. Many of us like to say that was his superpower, the ability to bring people together. It is truly an honor to be able to put this fundraising effort together, big thanks to the Langerman family for signing off on the idea, and of course a big thank you to everyone that considers donating.

Growing up I spent many summers in Falmouth at my family’s Cape house watching runners take on the Road Race. Our house sits just over the race’s halfway point at the Mile 4 marker. Although I have seen the race many times, I never had the opportunity to run it myself. So I thought to myself, what better way to commemorate my first run at Falmouth than with the spirit of Jack as my motivation? Pictured above is Jack and I enjoying a weekend at the house one summer.

I’ve set the goal at $3,400 (and we have surpassed it! Thank you so much everyone - let's keep it going!!) as Jack dawned the number 34 during his collegiate baseball days at Middlebury College. Was it his favorite number or was it his striking resemblance to one David ‘Big Papi’ Ortiz? We may never get the answer to that question, but both have left their marks on the community of Boston and beyond.
