Barker Island Project

Donation protected
The Barker Lake Area here on the Churchill River in northern Saskatchewan is just upstream from Otter Lake. This area is a most cherished and loved area by so many people. Our love for the area means we want to share it with the people we love.

Unfortunately, with so many wonderful people using the area, the most favourite campsites are becoming over camped. We encourage as many people as we can to pack out everything they bring in, including human waste. Despite our best efforts human waste at the campsites has become a serious problem.

Our goal for this campaign is to raise funds to purchase and maintain a composting toilet on Barker Island, the most heavily used campsite in the area. Saskatchewan Parks is working to install similar composting toilets within the park boundaries on Otter Lake and downstream from Stanley Mission but are not able to install toilets outside the park boundaries. Despite not being able to directly help, Saskatchewan Parks is very supportive of this project.

All proceeds will be donated to Saskatchewan Trail Association who is working towards setting up composting toilets along the most heavily used parts of the Churchill River. They will be starting with a toilet on Barker Island.

Please donate and help us maintain this beautiful area so the generations after us can continue to enjoy it.
