Barghouti Family’s Legal Fees
I am raising funds to cover legal costs for my brothers and uncle who are currently being illegally detained by the IOF. I am kindly asking for any help for my family who are based in Ramallah, in the West Bank of Palestine. We are under immense pressure with the legal costs associated with their arrests and illegal detaining.
On December 12, 2023, the IOF raided my family home in Ramallah and abducted and detained my youngest brother Majd, who is 26 years old. The IOF had identified him as a person of interest after seeing his face on security footage after he had attended a lawful protest against the IOF invasion in Ghaza. Majd was beaten, abducted, and detained, and held unlawfully.
Our father, Mahmoud, who was paralyzed and in bed during the home invasion was thrown down the stairs from his bed, further injuring his spine and finally causing him to succumb to his injuries on January 11, 2024.
On January 13, 2024, the soldiers returned to the home, again raiding it, stealing cash that we had collected for our father’s funeral costs, and abducting and detaining Yousef. The stated reason for Yousef’s detention was to learn more about Majd. He is still being held. The following day, my uncle Arafat was abducted and detained.
Since their abductions, we have not been allowed to contact our family. They have only been reached by our lawyer once in February . Their conditions are suffering in jail. They are only given one meal per day consisting of one hot dog, one egg, and half a potato. They are allowed fresh air for only four minutes per day. Their heads have been shaved. They have not been given a change of clothes. All three of my family members have lost an extreme amount of weight. After their zoom call with our lawyer, he said they were unrecognizable to him.
Any amount you can donate to help cover the legal fees for my brothers and uncle are greatly appreciated. The chances of them receiving justice are completely dependent on legal representation.
A little about my family:
Majd is my youngest brother. He is funny, he loves soccer, and he is so kind. I miss him dearly.
Yousef has an amazing heart. He was married in October and his wife and family miss him dearly. He is selfless, always willing to help anyone with a smile.
Arafat has a wife and five children who depend on him. They are suffering without him and we all miss him dearly.
