We need your help to keep the organisation open and deliver a life saving camp for children on the streets!
Like most organisations Barefeet have been severely affected by COVID 19 and have taken government advice to work from home and socially isolate where possible. As a consequence all our income generating activities, performances and children’s programmes have been put on hold or adapt.
This comes at a time when the most vulnerable children are at most risk. We need your help to keep the organisation afloat whilst targeting the most vulnerable young people in life saving activities.
Last week the Ministry of Community Development and Social Welfare relocated all children on the streets to drop in centres across the country. Previous experiences have shown that when children are relocated, boredom and lack of engagement can lead some to run back the familiarity of the streets. In the current climate things are even more dangerous.
Barefeet and now focusing on protecting our staff and delivering an emergency programme to support children in these centres through a theatre based camp.
Outcomes of the Emergency Appeal:
Your money will enable
➢ Barefeet to ensure staff are maintained throughout the crisis
➢ Ensure core costs like rentals and facilitators are supported.
➢ Online COVID-19 awareness content created and shared to our networks and drop in centres.
➢ Emergency activities initiated in 2 Drop in centres to prevent children moving back to the streets during the crisis.
➢ Over 300 children to directly benefit from the project.
We are so appreciative of supporters old and new who can help us stay active during this crisis and emerge stronger and more able to fulfil our mission of supporting the most vulnerable young people fulfil their potential!
Thank you so much!
