Non-slip matting for our swim jetty at Barcraigs

As everyone who enjoys and benefits from open water swimming at beautiful Barcraigs reservoir knows, our jetty is vital. Having a safe entry and exit to the water has made swimming at Barcraigs safer and more accessible for all.

Previous informal donations have meant I've been able to build a strong jetty with treated wood and stainless steel screws. However the surface has always been an issue.

The most recent stormy weather broke the jetty into three pieces. This has been repaired but the carpet which was the non-slip surface has been ripped apart.

I feel from this last repair the carpet has served its time as it's starting to disintegrate.

The jetty is so vital for our group, and is so well used, I would like to put a proper plastic non slip surface on the boards.

Unfortunately the correct material is expensive and we need a lot of it as the jetty is 10m long.

We have applied for funding for this non slip surface but we won't know if we are successful till later in the summer.

A 10m roll of 90cm wide non slip plastic matting will cost £500 including vat and delivery.
