Help Send BANTU Youth Educators to Australia

Hi! My name is Jaime Benedicto. About 8 years ago, some friends and I founded Project Bantu Philippines - a non-profit that uses the art of Capoeira Angola to help vulnerable young people and children learn important behavioral and social skills that would make them more successful in life. We started with a bare handful kids from a poor community in Manila called San Andres Bukid and while I've had the privilege of watching these awesome kids grow-up I've also had to see the immense struggles and challenges they've had to deal with. San Andres Bukid is the 2nd most densely populated neighborhood in the City of Manila in relation to its geographic size. Its a community that has had long standing problems with drug addiction, crime, teenage pregnancies, low graduation rates, violence and drug-related killings. Coupled with a scarcity of basic human needs like decent shelter, access to clean water, quality education, good nutrition and health care, it can be a very difficult place for children to grow up. We have made it our mission to change this.

This year, we are planning to open Casa Project Bantu - a center that will be committed to empowering and educating the youth and children of San Andres Bukid.  Through its establishment we will be able to provide free programs and interventions that will focus on important areas in education, nutrition, community development, individual wellness and personal growth. Some activities we already have lined up will be our Capoeira Angola classes , Taekwondo Classes, Yoga, academic tutorials for kids in and out of school, dance & music classes as well as classes to reinforce proper hygiene and general health. We're also planning to start a feeding program that will feed over 30 kids a day.

Our goal is to open in April but we hope to reach the $10,000 mark by August. This will ensure that we are not only able to open but that we can keep Casa Project Bantu open for a full 12 months.

We hope you'll consider supporting this campaign. Your help would mean such a big difference to the lives of hundreds of children and young people!

On behalf of all the awesome kids we work with, thank you very much, maraming salamat and muito obrigado!

All the Best,

Jaime
