We never expected to wake up living our biggest fear this past week. Our first baby became very sick, very quickly. It is hard to wrap our minds around how a perfectly happy, healthy, and so well loved doggo can all the sudden be facing a Lymphoma Cancer diagnosis at only 2.5 years old.

For those of you that know Banner, you know that he is the centerpiece of our family. He is a goofy, happy, quirky boy and the most perfect dog we could have ever asked for. Our whole lives have revolved around him for the past 2.5 years, especially since he has been our “only child” up until this point. Our daily top priority is always - what kind of adventure would Banner enjoy, where we could take him to get his tail wagging, and each day has been topped off with snuggles, kisses, and play time with our boy. We cannot imagine our lives any other way.

We are especially heartbroken with this sudden news as we are expecting our first (human) baby boy this spring. We have dreamt for years of how sweet and amazing it will be to make Banner a big brother. We have laughed and giggled and dreamed for hours about Banners first time meeting the baby, putting one of his beds in the baby’s nursery, picturing them growing up together and getting excited for the day our little boy can start throwing the ball for him. We’ve already thought about matching Halloween costumes, family trips for the four of us, and everything in between. Banner is a HUGE part of our family and we are heartbroken at the thought that our little boy won’t get to know and love him like we have.

Not only is this extremely sad and the timing with baby is very upsetting, but it’s also very stressful on both of us emotionally, physically, and financially. We’ve already spent so much money trying to figure out a diagnosis this week, hospitalization for him last night, and are expecting oncology and treatment to continue being very expensive when we hopefully get to that point in the coming days. We will do ANYTHING to help our baby at any cost, however we have had so many people reach out with how they can help us.

If you feel led at all to donate to Banner and help us during this extremely heart wrenching time, we would be so grateful and humbled. Just know that if you do donate, this is going towards helping a dog who wants nothing more than to love others. His favorite thing in the entire world is just being with people.

We also ask for prayer for our family and dog during this time. We are praying specifically for a miracle for Banner’s healing. We are praying for peace over our family and especially him in this time. We are praying for as much time as we can get with him. Our verse we are focusing on right now is Romans 12:12 - “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

We know that Jesus has Banner in His more than capable hands and will take care of him until the day he calls him home.
