Haley's Volunteer Trip to Bali
Donation protected
My name is Haley Lamb and this summer I decided I was going to do something to not only further my skill set and outlook on the world but to help others as well.
I applied, and was accepted, for a 21-day service & leadership trip this summer in Bali, Indonesia with an organization called Global Leadership Adventures (GLA). GLA is an amazing organization that sends high school students on life-changing trips abroad to many different countries, with programs varying from environmental conservation to working with children. "Our mission is to inspire the next generation to realize their potential to transform the world and their role in it." - GLA
On the trip I chose I will be attending leadership seminars, working with children, immersing myself in Balinese culture, and exploring the land. This program balances service with the opportunity to learn and become part of a community so different from your own. In Bali, I will get around 45 hours of service, teaching english at a local elementary school, and visiting a school for kids with physical and mental disabilities. When we are not doing community service I will get to visit local rice farms and work with the farmers, explore sacred temples, take a trip to a local healer and a Balinese market, and more.
I am excited to meet the other students atending the trip that come from places all around the world, to build my leadership skills, and explore my potential to change my own community.
From this trip I will gain a brand new knowledge of what is happening across the world from me. I will also gain a new skill set that will allow me to take what I have learned and apply it to my own community, and hopefully make a difference in it, upon my return. This trip will help me in more ways then one, and I have never looked forward to something this much in my life (not to be too dramatic or anything haha).
But long story short this trip means the world to me, and I need help to be able to go on it. Unfortunatley, the cost of the trip is too much for my parents to handle. The trip itself is $5000 and the airfare is $1000. I am trying to get a job but it proves to be difficult since I am not quite 16 yet. Anything that anybody could donate would be a huge help, and I would appreciate it more then you will ever know.
I will be sure to keep you updated and share every detail of my trip with you upon my return from it.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me and I will gladly answer them.
