Frank and Jodi Smith began the Country Pie Shop in July 2021 after retiring from their restaurant business, The Golden Apple Inn after 22 years.

Around 10:00 AM on Friday, May 24, 2024, Frank and Jodi returned home to begin the baking for Saturday's opening only to find smoke and flames coming from the building. The bakery is a total loss, and the only source of income for the family.

They have been fighting a battle with Google Maps in regards to their address. Instead of GPS taking the fire team to the location of the fire, it took them miles away from an alternate address. Jodi was told by Google months ago that this problem with her location was fixed. She is expecting a long legal battle, on top of this mournful time.

Additionally, the insurance company is currently refusing to pay a dime in damages. Frank and Jodi have lost their livelihood and have no way to rebuild without pursuing a second lawsuit.
