Honouring Bailey’s Legacy Through the Gift of Running
In loving memory of my son, Bailey Minchington, who passed away suddenly at the young age of 25 after living with Bipolar disorder for many years. I am starting this GoFundMe to carry forward his legacy.
To honour Bailey’s memory, this fundraiser aims to create targeted scholarships for young people aged 14-25 to help young runners achieve their goals and to maintain positive mental wellbeing while following their passion for running as Bailey did. The fundraiser goal will allow us to ensure that the Bailey Minchington Scholarship Program launched in April 2025 is sustainable for future years to support young runners in chasing their dreams.
Too often money raised from fundraising does not reach or impact directly the people who need it most. I am determined to change this and 100% of the funds raised for these scholarships go directly to the individuals to assist them to reach their goals. These scholarships will provide support such as:
- Coaching from qualified running professionals at the RunAsOne Running Community
- Running shoes and sportswear,
- Event entry fees (e.g. Marathon, half-marathon, 10km and 5km)
- Travel expenses for races
- Education and mentoring sessions on Goal Setting, Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation, Wellbeing and Nutrition
In 2022, Bailey discovered a vibrant running community that transformed his life, giving him a strong sense of belonging, purpose, and joy. One of his proudest achievements was completing a marathon in August 2024 with an incredible time of 2 hours and 50 minutes—a true testament to his determination and love for the sport. He also raised just under $7,000 for two charities as part of his marathon.
This cause is deeply personal to me because running brought Bailey so much happiness and connection. Through this initiative, I hope to give back to the running community that meant so much to him and empower young people to chase their dreams—just as Bailey did.
