Bail Fund Fundraiser
Donation protected
In response to the recent and perpetual police violence toward the Black community, Gabi, Hannah, Shira, and I are hoping to raise money by matching donations from our friends, family, and extended community to a number of bail funds in our respective cities. These organizations use donated funds to post bail bonds for jailed people of color, attempting to minimize pretrial detention and its history of discrimination against people of color. They are also particularly relevant in this moment, as many in the Black community have been and continue to be arrested while protesting the murders of George Floyd and others. If you're interested, feel free to read more about the deep problems with the cash bail system here.
These funds have been recommended by a number of activists and donation resources as some of the most important places to donate right now, and are particularly relevant to communities we care about:
Black People's Justice Fund - Metro Phoenix
Colorado Freedom Fund
National Bail Out
Collectively, we'll be matching donations on a 1:1 basis, up to $1800 total, and if you're able, we'd love to have your support in this effort. We'll divide the total equally among the three funds mentioned above.
