My name is Ameerah, and I’m the founder of The Xantara Foundation - an organisation dedicated to empowering the community through education, community support, and locally-driven initiatives. I’ve always believed that real change starts at the grassroots, and with the right tools and care, every person has the potential to thrive.

While our foundation has had to navigate some quiet seasons, our passion for impact has only grown stronger. We’re now relaunching with renewed energy, a dedicated team, and a clear mission: to support children in public schools with practical, locally-made resources that meet their real, everyday needs.

This project is deeply personal to me. As someone who has worked closely with schools, parents, and young people, I’ve seen firsthand how even a simple school bag with supplies can restore confidence and inspire learning.

Outside of the foundation, I’m a passionate community builder and advocate for accessible education. I’m excited to continue this journey, and with your support, one child, one bag, one smile at a time.

Every child deserves the opportunity to succeed in school, but for many, the simple tools they need to learn are out of reach. Across many communities in Malawi, children struggle without proper school supplies, often lacking basic items like notebooks, pens, and even a bag to carry their materials. This lack of resources can lead to frustration, missed opportunities, and even feelings of inadequacy. But together, we can make a change.

Introducing Bags of Hope - a charity initiative dedicated to providing children in public schools with the essential tools they need to thrive in their education. We aim to supply locally-made, water-resistant drawstring bags filled with some basic supplies a child needs to succeed in school. Each bag will come with:

The Importance of This Project

A lack of basic school supplies shouldn’t stand in the way of a child’s education. In many parts of the country, public school children don’t have the resources they need, which puts them at a disadvantage. Without a proper bag or the necessary stationery, students often resort to carrying their materials in plastic bags, or worse, they go without. Hindering their ability to fully engage in lessons.

Bags of Hope is being created to change this narrative and ensure that no child in need is left behind. Our goal is to provide each student with a drawstring bag made from locally sourced, durable materials and lined with water-resistant fabric to protect the contents on rainy days. The bags will not only serve as practical storage but also as a symbol of support from the community. By giving each child a matching pencil case and a full set of school supplies, we aim to instil a sense of pride and excitement for learning.

How We’ll Use the Funds

100% of the funds raised will go towards:

Material Costs: Locally-sourced fabric, waterproof linings, stationery items.

Production & Assembly: Hiring local artisans to create the bags and organise assembly.

Distribution: Ensuring that every bag reaches the children in the schools that need them most.

Please note: All miscellaneous and administrative costs are fully covered by our dedicated team and volunteers. Not a single penny from your donation goes toward overhead - every contribution goes directly into making a difference for the children.
