Hello friends, our group of 45 Backpackers, from all over the world, are seeing first hand the impact of the Coronavirus and the Mandatory Isolation that the Peruvian government has imposed, here in Huanchaco, Peru. We already gave €500 and delivered 50 bags to 25 families in need. Now we need your help to get further, we cannot do it alone. €18   - feed a family of four adults plus children for one week. €54   - feed 3 families for one week €100 - feed 3 families + special needs such as medication, nappies €500 - feed 25 families + special needs (eternal love for keeping the whole project up for one week) Thank you! Summary: We are aiming to raise € 5000 to provide food packages and medical supplies for families affected by the economical impact of the COVID-19 Mandatory Isolation. Here in Huanchaco, on Peruvian Coast, local families along with families that have fled from Venezuela are the focus of our efforts. Background: Huanchaco is part of the Trujillo district in the North of Peru. Since the government put the country under a 28-day lockdown, many Peruvians are suffering badly from the consequences of this decision. Most people here rely on tourism to feed and take care of their families. Unfortunately this is not possible and many families are unable to support themselves. In the Trujillo district there are hundreds of people who have purposely violated the Mandatory Isolation mandate, essentially getting themselves arrested, just so they can eat. We believe this is inhumane and a call to action. The Peruvian government is trying to help but the transportation of food and medical supplies throughout the country has proven challenging. In cooperation with local community leaders, we buy food and medical supplies, pack it in bags and deliver it to the families directly. With any overage, we will expand our packages to include important supplies such as diapers. Two food bags feed a family for one week. Each bag contains: - 3kg rice - 1kg beans - 1kg pasta - 1/2kg sugar - 600g oats - 1/2l oil - 6 eggs - 1 piece of soap - some tomatoes and onions
