Badwater to Whitney for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren

From the scorching floor of Death Valley to the towering summit of Mt. Whitney.

On September 4th, 2025 - Our group will bike 135 miles (+14,820 ft.) from Badwater Basin, the lowest and hottest place on Earth, through undulating hills and finishing within the formidable Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains. Once off our bikes, we will switch our helmets for boots and hike an additional 21.2 miles (+7,150 ft.) to the summit of Mt. Whitney, the highest point in the lower 48 states.

We'll be battling extreme heat, brutally step ascends, and exhaustion. We’ll rely on a support vehicle for our essential supplies and will not sleep for nearly two days.

We've set an aggressive goal of completing this challenge in a 24-hour window. Every mile will test our physical and mental limits and is aimed at being a symbolic representation of the incredible strength and sacrifice of grandparents raising the next generation.

A growing number of grandparents are now taking on the role of parenting their grandchildren. For a multitude of reasons, and at stages of life where the stress and financial burden should be a distance memory, many have been thrust back into this role.

Please consider supporting this wonderful charity. 100% of donated funds will go directly to Enfield Women’s Club to support the program.

Together we can help grow this program and create lasting change!
