Back-to-School Support for Two Families

Elizabeth and Kenia are two single mothers I know personally, each raising their families under extremely challenging circumstances. As the new school year approaches, both are struggling to provide for their six children—boys ages 13, 11, and 6, and girls ages 6 and 5. The financial burden of purchasing school supplies and clothing is overwhelming for them, and both families are living in poverty. Elizabeth recently lost her job, making it even harder to cover basic needs. Kenia, meanwhile, is battling serious health issues. Her medical expenses are high, and her insurance doesn’t cover much of her medication, forcing her to make impossible choices between buying food for her children and getting the pain relief she needs.

The children are eager to start school with the tools and confidence they deserve. Elian, the oldest at 13, is especially excited to learn English this year. All of the kids want to walk into school feeling prepared and supported, but their moms simply can’t afford the long list of required items. The funds raised will go directly toward buying essential school supplies like composition books, rulers, clear glue, pencil sharpeners, crayons, colored pencils, drawing paper, pencils, pencil pouches, notebooks, pens, washable markers, and more. In addition, the children need specific school uniforms, shoes, and socks so they can attend school comfortably and confidently.

My goal is to gather everything they need before school starts on August 16th, giving these kids the best possible start to their year.
