Back-To-School Jamaica 2025 Initiative: Beecher's Foundation

Beecher's Foundation – A not-for-profit charity is hosting a back-to-school giveaway! Hello! My name is Krisanta and my mother (Veronica) and I are hosting another back to school giveaway again this year but at a school this time! Collington Primary School.

Last year, we successfully surpassed our goal and gave away 50 backpacks filled with school supplies in the community. We also hosted a “fun day” with a bouncing castle for the kids, soccer and gave away food. Thank you once again to those that donated and followed our progress last year!

This year, we are so privileged to host another giveaway at Veronicas primary school where she attended as a child! Collington Primary School. This school is so near and dear to her heart so it only made sense to host there this year.

We were able to connect with the principal (Mrs. Sinclair) of Collington Primary to further plan for our back to school event. We have planned to do it bigger this year with more activities for the children to participate in along with the backpack giveaway.

Some of this will include:

BBQ (food, drinks)

Hands on fun activities (painting, sports, bouncing castle)

Giveaways, prizes to be won, etc.

Backpacks filled with school supplies

With frequent visits to Jamaica, living and being close-knit in the community, we see many underprivileged children and hear many heartbreaking stories. Many children do not attend school or have had to drop out (even at their young age) because of the lack of finances and support needed to pursue an education. This is due to high levels of poverty within Jamaica, which tragically has been an ongoing cycle that affects one generation to the next and further, leading to the lack of job opportunities.

We’ve been called to change this cycle by making the first steps of reducing costs. We’ve been called to provide “just a chance” and “a change.”

Backpacks will be filled with everyday school supplies (books, pencils, pens, erasers, calculators, etc.,) sanitary + hygienic products (deodorant, sanitizers, toothbrushes, toothpastes, etc.,) some dry foods, and miscellaneous items (underwear, undershirts, socks, etc.) This would be packed in barrels in Toronto and shipped by July 2025, to be given out in August at our event. All will be documented! Do not forget to follow us on our social media platforms.

With your help, we can make sure children do not miss out on impactful life opportunities that shouldn’t be missed, which can also in turn effectively reduce high levels of poverty, thus breaking recurring cycles.
