My name is Jennifer Robinson. I am a trustee for German Township in St. Joe County in South Bend, Indiana.

Last January, I started a partnership with a wonderful couple, Amos and Barbara Davis, by providing space inside the German Township community building to store food and other items to distribute to people in need in our community.

The Davis couple is committed to tireless work to provide for the community. They help thousands of people receive food, mattresses, clothing, laundry soap, and toiletries. Amos and Barbara drive to donation sites as early as 5 a.m. to secure donations from numerous organizations and community partners several days per week. The Davises use these donations to sponsor giveaway events with food and other essential household goods. These events take a great deal of time and effort, including finding volunteers and securing event venues. In addition, they lead weekly food pantry hours at the German Township community building, serve three different elderly high-rise communities at least once per week, and provide food to school-aged children during the summer months. Words cannot fully describe all the work they do.

Here is the problem. The Davises are not wealthy, and they sometimes struggle just to make ends meet. The van they use to secure many of their donations breaks down frequently and is currently experiencing mechanical issues that are too expensive to repair. To keep operations going, they often rent U-Haul trucks and storage space from CubeSmart, which simply is not sustainable.

I am asking the community to please show support for this wonderful couple so they can continue serving those in need. I know many families who would go without food and basic toiletries if they could not continue their work. They are in need of a box truck and financial support to continue renting space at CubeSmart. Please consider donating to this cause, no matter how large or small the contribution.
