Back yard ultra challenge for Sophia and meeting place club

Hi my name is Gerald walsh and On Friday evening the 30th of may 2025 starting at 6pm I am taking on the Ballymun backyard ultra in Trinity comprehensive school in aid of our daughter Sophia who has ARFID and the meeting place club, A back garden ultra is a 6.7km loop every hour on the hour till the last man is standing ie if you complete the loop in 45 minutes u will then have 15 minutes before the next loop starts.

Our Daughter Sophia has been in and out of Hospital for the last 2 and 1/2 years as she is unable to eat food and in August 2023 she was diagnosed with Arfrid which is Avoidance food restrictive intake disorder. she is also hard of hearing and suffers with Anxiety disorder and sensory processing disorder

ARFID is an eating disorder it isn't about body image or anything like that it's a fear of food she can only eat Milkybars and cant drink orally either she get most of her daily nutrition through and NG tube in her nose. she is currently waiting to go into Hospital to get a peg so she can be feed Directly into her stomach which means we can start to give her a blended diet of Home cooked meals and treats.she might Not be Able to swallow food But with the Peg It give her the opportunity to have the feeling and Nutrition of home cooked meals Again

I am running this to raise funds towards Equipment ie a vitamix blender and shelving and storage for When Sophia gets Her peg in so we can give her a blended diet through the peg and for The Meeting Place Club .A club we hold dear to our hearts It's a club for children young/adults with disabilities who come and meet up make friends have fun learn new skills , we have had so much help and support from our friends at meeting place club throughout Sophias journey we would be lost without the support from them.
