Back to Education is an initiative dedicated to improving learning conditions in Congo, with a particular focus on Eastern Congo - a region deeply affected by decades of genocide. For far too long, children there have been forced to learn in overcrowded, unsafe, and severely under-resourced classrooms - when they are able to attend school at all.
Many school buildings have been damaged or destroyed. Roofs are collapsing, classrooms lack desks, basic materials are missing, and teachers work in extremely difficult conditions. Education, which should be a place of safety and hope, has become another daily struggle.
Through Back to Education, our goal is to change this reality in a concrete and lasting way. The core of this project is the rehabilitation and reconstruction of three schools in Eastern Congo, so that children can learn in safe, dignified, and functional environments. Rebuilding these schools means repairing classrooms, restoring basic infrastructure, and creating spaces where children and teachers can finally work in humane conditions.
Alongside the reconstruction of the schools, the project also includes providing essential school supplies, supporting teachers, and ensuring that children can attend school with dignity. This holistic approach allows us not only to rebuild walls, but to rebuild trust, stability, and hope.
More than a school project, Back to Education is about restoring dignity and protecting a fundamental right. Education is not a privilege - it is a right, and it is one of the most powerful tools to help children heal, grow, and dream of a future beyond war.
With your support, we can rebuild these three schools, protect children’s right to learn, and help shape a brighter future for Eastern Congo.
