Most of you are aware of the fact that last September 2024, Sakonnet Golf Club, Head Professional, Matt Alwin qualified to compete at the upcoming 2025 PGA Professional National Championship in Port St. Lucie, Florida in April.

As all of you who know Matt, know he is a dedicated professional with a true love for teaching and playing the game of golf. Competing at this level has been a long-time dream of his. It is a tremendous accomplishment for Matt, and a testament to his high-caliber play and cool under pressure personality which we all see every day on the driving range or out on the course. We are all so proud and can’t wait to see him represent Sakonnet at the tournament.

For those of you who are interested in cheering him on either in person or from afar, the tournament details are below:

• Event: 2025 PGA Professional National Championship

• Date: April 27-30

• Location: PGA Golf Club (Wanamaker and Ryder Courses)

• Broadcast live by the Golf Channel

• The Champion and the top 20 finishers in the PGA Professional Championship will be named to the Corebridge Financial Team and will advance into the 2025 PGA Championship field at Quail Hollow Club May 12-18, 2025.

In addition to this being a tremendous honor, participation in this tournament also brings with it substantial costs. Matt will be traveling to Florida with his wife Katie, their son Jack, and their newborn son Sam Oliver Alwin, who was born on Feb 1.
