Georgia, who turned 19 in January, recently graduated high school. However, with her whole life ahead of her all she wants is to grow up, have a career, a family, and a life. For Georgia, these dreams are fleeting.

Georgia is the youngest of four girls; all who have become her best friends. She is the youngest, the baby, the perfect end to the group. A group of girls that have proven to be the strongest and bravest group of girls many people have ever met.  She grew up like any other child. In fact, she was more of a “Tom-boy” in her early years. She loved to get dirty, explore, hike, and enjoy the greatest hidden treasures of life. She has many friends (sometimes too many), which isn’t surprising if you know “G”. The girl is a social butterfly. She is extremely outgoing and free-spirited. Every room lights up that she enters as she is the key to any party even if she doesn’t think she is. She is humble, and loved deeply by her friends and family. Georgia is known for her generosity, her willingness to give, and helpfulness. Having gone through hardships that no other teenager usually encounters, Georgia has good reason to be one of the most empathetic people around. She understands the pain for those who hurt around her, and she does everything to help them regain happiness. Throughout her life, Georgia has always done everything she could to keep pushing forward and remain optimistic about life. And just when life was starting to settle and become easy for G, the world threw her a big curve ball - Leukemia.

For many weeks, Georgia hadn’t been feeling quite well. She started to experience constant nausea, and started to vomit daily. She was dizzy, weak, and could hardly function normally. Her family noticed that all she did was sleep. She had reoccurring infections she couldn’t seem to get rid of. She lost weight and began to lose the “life” in her eyes and the pep in her step. Eventually her family stepped in. We pushed her to get help. We couldn’t let her live this way, so sick and frail. The fun-loving, free spirit we all knew Georgia to be, was disappearing right before our eyes. We knew something was wrong. She made an appointment for a physical and that’s when her world, the world that was just finally getting to be good, came crashing down around her.

On May 5th, 2019 Georgia Loraine walked into UC medical center and hasn’t left since. As it turns out - our girl was not just “sick”, she was dying. Acute Myeloid Leukemia, is her diagnosis. Acute Myeloid Leukemia has taken up residence within her body and is determined to stay. It has consumed all of her red blood cells and destroyed most of her white blood cells. She has received over 7 units of blood in 6 days and continues to need more. She has begun Chemo to kill the Leukemia, but, inadvertently, it is slowly killing her. She is currently attached to three pumps that are used for potential life-saving medicines, blood, and poison (chemotherapy) into her body; all to be able to give her a chance at living. She spends her days in isolation, and for G, it is far from easy. She has to stay away from her friends and her family, in order to just live. Her world has been turned on its head. Leukemia has taken over her life, and her family’s life. The bills are beginning to stack up, the money is slowly becoming scarce, and Georgia is still fighting for her right to live.

At nineteen-years-old most kids are starting college, working, and trying to build a life for themselves, but Georgia isn’t. She is fighting to be able to have a life. She wants to live. She wants a future…the future she’s always dreamed of. She doesn’t want to die. This girl is going through hell to have just a taste of something that most of us take for granted. We need your help to get her there. We are asking for donations to help take the burden off of a nineteen-year-old child. At 19, she shouldn’t have to fight cancer or worry if she will have enough money to pay for the bills that are slowly accumulating. She shouldn’t have to worry if she will be able to afford the many lifesaving medications she will have to take or whether or not she will be able to get to the many appointments she will have to attend. She shouldn’t ever HAVE to be alone. All of this to survive, all of this to live. So please, if you can, donate to Georgia. Let her know she is not ever alone and that she is loved. Touch her life the way she’s touched the many around her. If you can’t donate, then share please. We love each and everyone of you. We fight for her so she can fight for herself.
