Baby Zaxton and family

My name is Skylia, I’m the mother of Zaxton Lee. Baby Zaxton was born at 23weeks due to my water rupturing at 20 weeks. This is my first child and not how I expected things to go. We are from Scotland county and traveling back and forth to Chapel hill NICU where he was born. I am out of work due to being there for him through this time. Zaxton had what you call “NEC” twice, which is a belly infection most micropreemies are prone to getting. Due to that infection it left him with what the Drs thought was a stricture in his bowels and that needed to be cut out and put back together. However once they opened him up they seen that it was just poop and meconium that needed to be scrapped out. The surgery itself went well but his body did not tolerate someone opening his belly up and cutting on his intestines so he went into sort of a shock and took and turn for the worst he was in a real critical phase for about 2 weeks. He remained with his bowels in a silo which is a clear bag on the outside of his belly so they could see his bowels. After he was like that for a while they decided to put a wound vac on to protect it. They took him through surgery every 3 days and attempted to close his belly up. He did not like that he would shut down every time. So this morning they decided to give him what you call a mesh. They basically put a cloth over the hole and stitched it in his skin and over time it will slowly pull the skin back together on its on. After he heals from this our next goal is to get his PDA closed which is a hole in his heart that is a less invasive surgery than the one he had on his bowels. Then we will work on his feeds getting him to drink milk if he is not successful in learning how to suck swallow and breath at the same time they will discuss giving him a Gtube which is a feeding tube until he is a bit bigger and can learn to drink from a bottle. He hasn’t had milk in almost 2 months due to the Nec and his belly not tolerating my milk. May 2nd he will be 3 months old. He is now weighing 3pds a major growth from 600 grams at birth.
