Imagine wanting something more than life itself! For Britany and Devin Trujillo it’s a baby!
Devin and Britany have the most amazing relationship! They are truly best friends and feel so blessed to have each other! Devin is a Police Officer and is in the Army National Guard! Britany works for a Juvenile Detetnion Center. They have dedicated their entire lives to helping others!
Britany and Devin knew early on they wanted more than anything a child! Unfortunately, there appeared to be struggles in making that dream a reality! Britany and Devin found out that they would not be able to have children without help. They have male factor infertility. Basically what that means is the sperm are the issue. This was a difficult concept to wrap their heads around, as one can imagine!
What does anyone else who is chasing a dream do... EVERYTHING!!! Britany was initially told that She was the issue. She started a a regiment of meds, exercise, watching eating, you name it! Only to find out Devin had a hernia that was causing the issues. Immediately he went under the knife to fix the issue, or so he thought! Turned out, it didn’t fix it. So onto the next!! Devin and Britany then started doing IUI (insemination)... aka Turkey basting! Every month and hundred of dollars later, no success! They did a total of 7 IUI’s in total before they decided this was not going to the route that works for them. Heartbreaking as one can imagine! What other options do they have... more IUI’s, give up... all not options..
IVF (InvitroFertalization)... the Hail Mary! But as anyone can imagine, it’s massively expensive! So they started saving... and saving... and saving... all whole time ticks away.
Britany found a 5k fundraiser/foundation (Footsteps for Fertility) that gifts a round of IVF to a deserving family. The IVF round doesn’t cover meds, Anesthesia, or the male factor issue (putting the sperm into the egg) the luck, the wonder, if only! It’s a long shot, Britany and Devin knew that but when you want something more than life itself you will do ANYTHING to obtain it! So year one, they had so many people sign up so they could put an extra chance to win a IVF treatment. The walk was amazing, the program is amazing, the winners... were amazing and totally deserving!!! Ultimate sadness then kicks in... will this ever happen...
Never give up, try try again... that has been the motto Britany and Devin have been living. So what do they do..sign up for again! Nerves... worry... excitement.. all rolled into one! The big day came, Devin had to miss for Military requirements. A whole team showed up that day to support Britany that amazing day! Guess what THEY WON! The ultimate gift has been bestowed upon their family! Tears of joy, elation, amazingment! Truly an amazing experience, one I know they will be ever grateful for!
So it begins Oct 13, 2018! Amazing Right! Well it’s not all roses and daisies... it’s pokes, pain, meds, blood draws, nerves, worries, excitement, blessings! All completely worth it to Devin and Britany... a baby within reach!
October 24, 2018... egg retrieval day!!! So much excitement, so many nerves! Thirteen amazing eggs retrieved!! Ten fertilized! HURRAY!!! Five blastocysts read to be frozen until transfer! Five chances at a baby... but it only takes one!
November 16, 2018, implantation day! Two eggs thawed but only one made it. Implantation goes off without a hitch!! Days tick by, wonder, worry, positive thoughts, prayers that the baby will stick! Pregnancy test after pregnancy test with no positive. Nightmares turn true. No baby.
The Silver Lining:
Britany and Devin still have three viable eggs! Here come the hard part! They need $3651 to do another transfer! While that may not seem like a lot to some, it is for these two! After paying for the first round of extras that weren’t covered in the free IVF cycle, all the IUI’s, and the meds there isn’t much left! Britany and Devin are far to proud of people to ask anyone for help let alone do one of these fundraising pages themselves. I on the other hand am not! They need your support, your love, your prayers but most of all they need your money! What an amazing Christmas gift it would be to pay for another chance to be blessed with a baby! Please help me reach their goal! Every $1, $5,$20, $50, $100+ helps more than words can express! Give the gift of life!
