Baby Scarlett's family with living expenses
Donation protected
Ingrid & Situa have always wanted to be parents, and finally, after trying for years, in 2020, that dream came true. Unfortunately, their beautiful baby boy Damian was born at 19 weeks 5 days due to Ingrid having an incompetent cervix. Ingrid & Situa were devastated and took time off work to grieve.
At the end of 2020, they decided a change was in order and packed up their lives in Griffith to move to the Illawarra area. After trying for a baby for quite a while, they were told that they would need to go through IVF to have a baby, so in 2022 they set out on this journey of needles and specialists appointments. Their first attempt failed, and understandably were heartbroken; then, a miracle happened. Ingrid was pregnant naturally!
The doctors ran blood tests and told her not to get her hopes up as the levels were not very high! Ingrid & Situa prayed that this would be the time, and it was! Ingrid was finally pregnant. Still, due to an incompetent cervix, Ingrid needed surgery to stitch her cervix to keep this precious baby in and healthy.
All was going along fantastic they were to have a beautiful baby girl in early December!
Then the house they were renting was sold, and they needed a new home to live in; after weeks of searching, they found a family home to start their new lives.
In early August, something wasn't right, so Ingrid called her Doctor and got in for an Ultrasound, and they were told at 22 weeks 5 days, the stitch had failed, and Ingrid's cervix was open, putting their precious baby at risk. Ingrid was admitted to hospital in Wollongong and then moved at 23 weeks to Sydney.
In the middle of all this, they needed to move house, Situa having to leave Ingrid's side whilst in active labour to organise a removalist and family to help them out.
They needed to keep the baby in for as long as they could and were hoping to do so with complete bed rest and medications to slow Ingrid's labour, but at just 24 weeks & 4 days, baby Scarlet was born at 7.10 pm on the 16th August 2022 weighing just 650grams and is now beginning the fight of her life.
Ingrid and Situa now have to stay in a hotel close to Scarlett, as their home is over an hour and a half drive away. Ingrid and Situa have not worked in 3 weeks and are unsure when Scarlett will be stable enough for Situa to return to work a few days a week to sustain an income for them. As the world marches on outside their little bubble, they still have moving costs, rent, bills and the costs of living away from home piling in on them. Anyone who knows Ingrid and Situa would know they rarely ask for help, but I think they could use some help from us all right now.
If you are in a position to donate even $5 for a coffee, it would be very much appreciated or a share of this link with your friends and family, it would mean a lot x
