On June 25th, our pregnant sister Katie went to the hospital in Wichita Falls, TX to check her blood pressure. What was supposed to be a precautionary visit turned into a full-blown medical crisis. Katie was taken by helicopter to Dallas-Forth Worth because the severe preeclampsia and other complications were so serious the hospital in her town could not treat her. The team of doctors at the hospital tried their best to help Katie stay pregnant, but the baby's heart rate decreased and they could not detect fetal movement. Despite being only six months pregnant, Katie underwent an emergency c-section on June 29th to save her son's life. Baby Raylan was born 14 weeks early and only weighed 1 lb 6 ounces, putting him in the 9th percentile. 

Katie and Raylan have a long road ahead of them.  Baby Raylan will be in the hospital until October, and Katie and her fiancé Jared live two hours away.  We are hoping to raise money to help with medical and living expenses while Raylan grows strong enough to go home. 

It has been a frightening ordeal for the whole family and we know they would be extremely grateful for us to show our support.
