Sam went in for a routine ultrasound. During the ultrasound they found baby Quincy has a double sided aortic arch with a vascular ring.  Zak and Sam took a trip to Billings on Wednesday to confirm this diagnosis. They spent the entire day meeting with specialists to explain what the future holds and set up a care plan. As soon as Quincy is born he will need to be assessed by the pediatric cardiologist, the pediatric pulmonologist, and the NICU specialists. They will determine when exactly he will need to go to Denver or Salt Lake for heart surgery. Unfortunately Bozeman does not have the specialists Sam and Quincy will need for the remainder of her pregnancy and his care after so she will have to travel to Billings for doctor appointments. She will also have to deliver in Billings. Once Sam is 34 weeks she will have to stay in Billings until she delivers, because she has delivered her other children early. Right now they believe baby Quincy will need heart surgery between 2 and 6 weeks, but won't know for sure until he is born. He will have some genetic testing as well. If he comes back that he has the genetic syndrome, it will complicate things further. Both Zak and Sam are praying that this is an isolated heart issue, but regardless Quincy will be loved by so many. They could really use your prayers and good thoughts. The other kids are sad that mom is going to be away from them and baby brother won't be born in Bozeman, but they are all being so strong.
