Ryan and I have both wanted to adopt since we were teenagers. We both knew of families and met families who had adopted. We both see it as a beautiful and redemptive process. God has adopted us as his children, and we see adoption as a reminder of this truth in our own lives. "For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves." Ephesians 1:4-6
We both knew we wanted to adopt before we got married, and we discussed it from the very beginning of our relationship. We love children and families. We both come from big families and our parents created healthy, loving Christian homes for us. Our desire is to be parents that do the same for our own children. When we found out that we couldn’t have kids due to infertility issues, we knew that adoption was the route God wanted us to take. We had complete peace in moving forward. To us the way God wants to grow our family isn't as important as having a family. We desire to be parents and love children, and we're thankful that adoption provides that opportunity. We're excited to meet the children He has intended for us!
Adoption is a costly process, but we trust entirely that God will provide all we need. Our adoption agency has told us that adoption will be anywhere from $16,000 to $26,000 plus birth mother costs of $4,000. We are anticipating our adoption will be $20,000, and we are raising funds to go towards that cost. We have an official home study and are now on a waiting list for adoption, so we could be matched with a baby or babies (we're open to twins!) at any point (3 weeks, 3 months, 3 years). Raising the funds now will allow us to be ready for whenever we are matched.
We are working to save money towards the adoption and are applying for grants, but we know that we cannot pay for this adoption on our own and grants aren't guaranteed. Any help you can give us to raise the funds will be a blessing and encouragement to us. It will get us that much closer to growing our family and adding a baby (or babies) to our family.
We are incredibly grateful for the family, friends, community members, and complete strangers who have been a part of our adoption journey thus far and who will invariably join us along the way. We're trusting and moving forward in faith and hope knowing we have a good Father who gives good gifts to His children. We're excited to see Him show up and are so thankful to invite you into our story!
