My sister Nina and her husband Bryon are expecting a baby boy in April of 2019 and are facing a challenging road ahead.
Baby Nicholas has been diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome. A disorder that leaves the left side of the heart undeveloped. Resulting from insufficient blood flow to the left side of the heart.
Treatment includes a series of three open heart surgeries in the first 3 years of his life to reconstruct his cardiovascular system. The first would be within days of birth. Without the surgery Nicholas will likely pass within a week of birth. While the treatment helps, it only gives Nicholas more time and doesn’t fix the main issue.
Nina and Bryon are facing very tough decisions on the care of their son. Along with questions on how to cover expenses with their two other young children.
Donations would be used for whatever is needed, including help with any medical/travel and possibly final arrangement expenses.
Our whole family is working together to help Nina and Bryon in all ways possible, we can’t do it alone. Any contributions would be a great gift and very much appreciated. Please pray for both baby Nicholas and his family.
