Exciting News!
The time has come to start the next chapter in our lives: growing our little family. We have taken the steps to collect all of the information we need to start intrauterine insemination (IUI). We have chosen a fertility Doctor, Maya Bledsoe, and we are excited to start trying to get pregnant in July 2020. Kir will carry and Kay will tend to her every need... Ha!
In 2019, Dr. Bledsoe outlined the costs and timeline associated with IUI and we quickly became overwhelmed. Due to it being considered ‘infertility’, these costs are not covered in any way by our insurance.
What are the chances of success of IUI? Each IUI cycle has approximately a one in six chance of success. For those who IUI will work for, 75% of couples become pregnant in the first three cycles, and 95% in the first six cycles. We have estimated the number of sperm vials upfront to be six vials for this reason. Also, donors come and go; meaning the chances of finding the donor of our choice again could result in a donor who is no longer active. This also gives us a chance for baby #2 in the future to have the same donor as baby #1 if we have an adequate amount of vials.
We need your help!
As uncomfortable as it is for us to ask for help, in times like these we need to reach out to our loved ones. After careful consideration, we have decided to use the platform GoFundMe so that it is easily accessible to our Canadian and U.S. families. If you feel uncomfortable donating through this platform, please let us know. Our GoFundMe page is private and only accessible to those we have shared the web link with. If you know somebody who would be interested in our story, please feel free to share this link with them.
We look forward to keeping you updated throughout our journey!
THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ALL THOSE WHO LOVE AND SUPPORT US!!!!!!!
