Every now and then, life presents a circumstance that bears the power to be humble. While travelling in Bali, I met a woman named Matilda who took care of our accommodations. Matilda was pregnant and spoke about how excited she was leading up to the birth of her baby boy.



Upon returning to Canada, Matilda reached out with some devastating news about her newborn. Baby Jibran, pictured below, was born with a severe cleft deformity. While the first stage of corrective surgery can take as little as 45 minutes, it is financially out of reach for Matilda. To be clear, Baby Jibran requires a number of surgeries which his hardworking parents cannot afford.

 

IF we can raise CDN$10,000 for the surgeries, baby Jibran can have a fair shot at life, one free from deformity and medical complications.
