Baby Ibrahim’s 76 days battle with Trisomy 13

Donation protected
Hi,

I’m Anza, last January my husband and I discovered we were pregnant with our 4th child. When we found out we were pregnant we were so excited to expand our family. During my pregnancy we found there was a possibility our baby would have complications. We were in complete disbelief but in that moment, I released all control and decided to put it into God’s hands.

My pregnancy was extremely difficult, in addition to the medical concerns about my baby, I experienced my own complications. I developed a condition called hyperemesis gravidarum, which left me bedridden, in and out of the hospital and unable to maintain employment.
By the end of my pregnancy, doctors believed that my baby would not survive birth, but by the grace of God I carried him to term, he was 6lbs and delivered naturally. When I looked into my sweet baby boy’s eyes I was at peace. I named him Ibrahim.

Ibrahim was diagnosed with Trisomy 13, a rare genetic disorder that causes significant health complication. Trisomy 13 can affect the development of multiple organs systems which can be life threatening and often result in death before 1 year old. Ibrihim had significant brain, lung, eyes and heart defects that required 24hour nursing care in the NICU.

Doctors believed he would be severely underweight and only live for 72hrs, they were shocked at his ability to defy the odds. For 3 months he fought hard and as much as I thought I needed him God needed him more. Every moment with him was so meaningful to me. I am grateful for the time we had together and that I was able to bond with my baby boy.

I wish this was the end of our story but instead we are burden with significant debt. My husband is trying his best to support a family of 5 but in this economy it’s almost impossible. Without my income we fell behind on bills and are now scrambling to find the funds for a proper burial. As much as we are grateful for the amazing care we received, it came at a very high cost. We have created this GoFundMe to kindly ask for donations, whatever you are able to give would be a blessing and greatly appreciated. Our hearts go out to any family who have experienced the lost of a child. We hope through reading our story we can spread awareness on Trisomy 13.

God bless
the G’s family
