Baby Georgia's Early Arrival!
Donation protected
So many of you have called and emailed - asking how you can help! We are Dewey & Maggie's parents, sisters and brothers, writing to tell you the story of Baby Georgia's early arrival to this world, and how you can help support them from afar until they return home...
Georgia Frances Oxner made her appearance 9 weeks early - which is a huge feat in itself, but to add to that - Dewey and Maggie were on a pre-baby trip together in the Keys - 800 miles away from their home in Greenville and their two year old, Cecilia. After a 1.5 hour ambulance transport to the closest NICU and emergency OR, baby Georgia was delivered on the eve of Easter, late Saturday night 3/30. She is strong but mighty at a whopping 3lbs 10 ounces, 16 inches. Georgia and Maggie are both doing well, but will be in the great hands of the doctors and nurses at South Miami Hospital for at least 4 more weeks. Maggie's mom and a good family friend are driving sweet Cecilia from Charleston to Miami soon so that the family can all be together (someone say a prayer for that car ride too!).
While we are still working out plans of where they will stay for the next month in South Florida, we'll remind you that they packed for a beach vacation and have very little with them aside from bathing suits and sunscreen :).
Money raised from this GoFundMe will help with lodging costs for the family, groceries/UberEats, Amazon/Target gift cards for the postpartum and personal care items they did not pack with them on this trip, shipping of things needed from home, and soon-to-be items needed like diapers and transporting baby Georgia back to Greenville.
There will be more ways to support once they return home - they will surely enjoy some frozen casseroles and homecooked meals after all that time away. We'll send out a MealTrain sign-up once we know when that will be.
Most importantly, send prayers for all! Maggie is one STRONG mama, and it's clear she gave sweet little Georgia that same strength - we know she will be wrestling with her rowdy boy cousins soon! Thank you for all of your support, now and in the months ahead!
