In winter 2024, Devin and Emma, a sweet couple based in Ottawa, Ontario, found out they were going to be parents. They were thrilled. They began immediately preparing their lives and homes for this new treasure. They could have never imagined that their daughter's arrival would be quite so early. Their beautiful baby girl was born early, at 23 weeks, 6 days gestation on August 14th, 2024, weighing just under 1.5lbs. Emma and Devin need your help with some finances so they can continue focusing on helping baby Everitt to grow and thrive.
It has been a fraught and difficult first six weeks of life for baby Everitt (EV). She has been working hard at growing, but has had many struggles along the way. Her lungs are especially underdeveloped, and have required constant care and intervention. EV has been under the thoughtful hands of devoted NICU staff and will be living in hospital for the next several months. Her parents have been spending all the time they can with her—visiting, cuddling, and assisting with her care.
This process has been extremely challenging for Emma and Devin. Bringing a child into the world is already something that requires a community, and much effort love, and labor from parents. All of this is amplified for a baby who is spending the first few months of her life in the NICU. Despite her challenges, EV has grown a lot in the past month and is slowly getting bigger and stronger. She is certainly well loved! Nevertheless, each day has still been challenging and exhausting for her devoted parents and community.
Alongside the emotional challenges, Emma and Devin have also faced financial hardship. Unexpected expenses are adding up, causing additional stress in an already challenging situation.
Donations will go towards:
- monthly hospital parking passes, and auto expenses
- food services
- lactation and nursing expenses (freezer, hospital grade pump etc)
- income loss
- ongoing medical needs for EV
Please help them with some of these unexpected expenses to they can continue to pour all their love into their little girl.
EV has proven herself to be a fighter. In her first six weeks of life she has already overcome so many obstacles—as have her parents. Thank you for helping my longtime friends have one less thing to worry about while they care for their sweet girl.
