Baby Elizabeth
Jodi and Justin welcomed their sweet baby Elizabeth Anne Vogl on Saturday May 25th at 10:16pm. She arrived into the world weighing 6 pounds and 12 ounces measuring 20 inches long. Her delivery was smooth but she did end up with pulmonary hypertension having aspirated some meconium in utero. She was transferred early Sunday morning to St. Mary’s hospital in West Palm Beach which had a bigger NICU to accommodate her. On Tuesday the 28th the doctors at St. Mary’s felt that Elizabeth was too sick for them to care for and she was transferred to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami. When she arrived, she underwent open heart surgery to repair a small hole in her heart. She is currently on an ECMO (heart/lung machine) to help her get the correct amount of oxygen into her body. Her heart and lungs are not quite working at their full capacity and the doctors hope that with rest, her body will recover, and her heart and lungs will begin to fully function. They have explained that this could take some time. And while family is coming in to check on Jodi and Justin, they will be down in Miami full time for a while. We are all praying and sending out love to Jodi, Justin and Elizabeth. Any donations to aid in hospital cost would be appreciated.
